Koh Phangan is well known for its beaches, but many visitors come for more than the scenery. They seek a deeper experience—connection, personal transformation, and practices that support physical and mental well-being.

AUM Healing Center is a wellness and spiritual retreat center on Koh Phangan. It focuses on sound healing, yoga, and community-based practices designed to support relaxation, self-awareness, and stress relief. The center attracts travelers, professionals in need of rest, and spiritual seekers who wish to explore holistic approaches to health and inner balance.

SOUND HEALING: THE MAIN PRACTICE

AUM Healing Center uses sound as its primary therapeutic tool. Sound healing is based on the principle that certain frequencies can help calm the nervous system, support emotional release, and bring the body and mind into a more balanced state. Sessions include a combination of instruments:

  • Massive Gongs: Low, powerful vibrations that help release tension and stimulate a deep meditative state.
  • Pure Quartz Crystal Bowls: Clear tones that are believed to calm the mind and support energy alignment.
  • Shamanic Instruments: Rhythmic sounds used to create a grounding, nature-connected experience.

Sound healing sessions are held in a quiet environment where participants lie or sit comfortably, allowing the sound vibrations to create a sense of deep relaxation. Many describe the experience as similar to a “sound bath,” where the body and mind are immersed in waves of sound.

PROGRAMS AND DAILY SCHEDULE

The center offers structured programs for different levels of interest, ranging from a single day of classes to multi-day retreats and teacher training programs.

AUM DAY PASS

The Day Pass provides access to a full day of classes. Sessions are scheduled to flow sequentially, combining yoga, meditation, and sound practices. A typical day includes:

  • 7:07 AM – Morning Yoga & Sound Awakening: Gentle yoga to stretch and prepare the body, accompanied by crystal bowl sounds.
  • 9:09 AM – Kundalini Yoga & Gong Activation: A more dynamic yoga practice ending with deep gong vibrations.
  • 11:11 AM – Breathwork & Vibrational Release: Guided breathing techniques for emotional release, supported by grounding sounds.
  • 1:11 PM – Active Meditation & Sound Journey: A movement-based meditation followed by immersive sound healing.
  • 3:03 PM – Restorative Yoga & Sound Bath: Slow, supported yoga poses ending with a sound bath for deep relaxation.
  • 5:05 PM – Sunset Session & Elemental Sound: A gentle closing session that combines movement with natural and elemental soundscapes.

Participants typically join the entire day to experience the combined effects of multiple practices.

AUM NIGHT RITUAL

In the evening, AUM Healing Center hosts the Night Ritual. It is designed as a social and communal experience rather than a formal class. The evening usually includes:

  • Sauna & Ice Bath: Alternating heat and cold exposure to stimulate circulation and relaxation.
  • Sacred Bonfire & Community Sharing: An informal gathering around a fire where people connect and exchange stories.
  • Tribal Rhythms & Ecstatic Dance: Free-form dance accompanied by live or recorded rhythmic music.
  • Live Medicine Music & Chanting: Simple group chanting and live music using traditional instruments.
  • Cacao Ceremony (optional on certain nights): Drinking ceremonial-grade cacao to promote a relaxed, open state of mind.

The Night Ritual is meant to support social connection and a sense of community while also offering grounding practices to end the day.

TEACHER TRAININGS AND LONGER COURSES

For those who wish to study more deeply, AUM Healing Center offers professional-level courses:

  • Sound Healing Teacher Training (TTC): A structured course covering the use of gongs, bowls, and other instruments, as well as practical instruction on facilitating group and individual sessions.
  • Yoga Teacher Training (TTC): A comprehensive yoga program combining physical practice, philosophy, and teaching methodology for students who wish to become certified yoga teachers.

These programs are held periodically and require advance registration.

WHAT PARTICIPANTS CAN EXPECT

Most participants report leaving with:

  • Improved relaxation: Reduced stress levels and a calmer mental state.
  • Increased energy: A sense of lightness and restored vitality after multiple sessions.
  • Community connection: Interaction with like-minded people in a supportive setting.
  • Better body awareness: A deeper understanding of physical and emotional patterns.

While experiences vary, the focus of the center is on creating a space for rest, reflection, and inner work.
