Thailand’s General Election will take place on Sunday March 24th. As a visitor you may be wondering what will happen and will your travel or arrangements be affected…

The main thing you will probably want to know here on party island Koh Phangan is that there is an alcohol ban in place from 6pm on Saturday 23rd to 6pm on Sunday 24th.

The polls will take place between 8 a.m. – 5. P.m and here on Koh Phangan things should be as normal apart from there may be a bit more traffic as people travel to vote.

Everything should be open as normal, although if a small business they may need to close if not enough staff.

So, it looks to be a normal day apart from the alcohol ban, if you really want to have a beer or few during those hours then best to stock up before 6pm on Saturday!
