Phanganist HQ has had a bit of a turnaround in the last few months...
We've gone all healthy!
Not to say we weren't before but big boss Sharon has got really into all this 'healthy stuff'.
A new addition to the kitchen was a bread maker! Now most people know that a lot of the bread here is well, just bad.
So we decided to test the machine out but this isn't the main point of this article...
Hummus is!
We also had some chick peas and tahini all the way from Israel itself and although there are lots of nice places to go and enjoy Hummus on the island, we wanted to make our own.
This isn't the first time we have made hummus here, Bry0 has made some before but this time it was the boys turn!
According to our hummus insider, a proper good receipe consisted of the same amount of chick peas to tahini, half a cup of olive oil, salt, three cloves of garlic and lemon juice.
This was all put into a bowl and mixed by hand as unfortunately the blender is broken.
The use of tools by the men was interesting, as the pessel and mortar were being used to crush the garlic a ketchup bottle was chosen instead to mash and mix up the ingrediants to make the hummus.
At least you know there was some good elbow grease put into this!
Along with man stregnth, there was a true bond seen between the gents whilst preparing fresh hummus and the bread baked away, almost melts your heart.
The bread came out great, although on further attempts we know we have a bit of trying and testing to do but nonetheless, fresh warm bread with just prepared hummus, who needs more?!
We devoured the whole loaf in one go!
A tast of Israel with the comfort of bread was a good morning medicine made by the hands of the men.
