Dj Stella Bellamy - Resident Dj and Artistic Manager of Infinity beach club
Stella first came to Koh Phangan two years ago and discovered the island during a holiday. She says it ‘was like falling in love’. She decided to change her life and start again here. Stella went back to France then permanently moved to Phangan in march 2015.
Did you have a plan of what you wanted to do here?
My first crazy night on Phangan was at Secret Garden where I realized how magical could be a Dj life here. So, I decided to move and stay on the island playing music, living my passion.
The magic story is when I was back in France, my current boss came to me to propose this job at INFINITY.
What is your background in Dj’ing and the music industry?
I studied music and used to play piano when I was young. I started as a Dj in 1999 with vinyl. Vinyl is still my real passion. At the same time, I was a parties organizer. Then, I set up a nightclub in the south of France. It was an underground techno music nightclub on the beach. Good memories !
And I had many residencies in south of France and North of Spain and a few gigs in USA.
What music do you play?
I started with techno music. And now I also enjoy deep techno, deep house, tech house. I like all styles as soon as I can feel groovy rythm and melodic emotion.
Where on Koh Phangan have you played?
Christian (Hypo Java) gave me a chance at NB_ to start here and to play vinyl sessions every Friday. I have also performed at Pirates bar, Fisherman’s for Chill n Deep, Bed and Beach Bar, Cotton Beach…
What do you think of the Phangan party scene?
Koh Phangan offers so many different places to party in ! You can find just small parties as well as huge ones. The electronic music range is very wide, it is a pleasure. I am so happy to live in a place where underground is main tendency ! Moreover, there’s amazing energy on the dancefloors and happiness everywhere.
Have you got any favourite parties?
I would say Eden for its wonderful scenery, the intimate atmosphere, the special vibes and the boat trip ! And Jungle Experience for its immensity, decorating and kind of music.
But anyway, usually I enjoy all the parties.
Infinity opens its doors at the end of the month, what have you been working on for the opening?
My job is focused on events creation, scheduling (international, local Djs and artists booking) and communication.
What can we expect from Infinity?
The first Beach Club on the island where you can find restaurants, bars and music everyday.
In my opinion this new place will match a new request of festive restaurant and quality of events.
You will enjoy our large pool, lovely beach and beautiful sky terrace for sunset.
Tell us about the soft opening on the 31st October?
We wanted to offer you a dream line-up, that’s why we have chosen some of our most talented local Djs : Abenz, Geoffrey Cravotta, Naq, Peter G, Acrobat and Miguel Matoz from 12 pm to 01 am. Before the Big Opening which will take place in December, it is a chance for people to come and get a feeling for what INFINITY is going to be.
What do you do in your free time on Koh Phangan?
I check new sounds, I go to parties to meet new Djs and dance. And to relax, I like to drive through the island to discover Thai people, countryside, beaches, jungle…
