Hey, so are you looking forward to coming to Koh Phangan?
Yes of course. Our most favourite island and a destination we travel to twice a year. Our second home.
What have you been up to already this year?
This year started with a new years show in Wanaka, New Zealand at the Rhythm & Alps Festival alongside the legendary Carl Cox. January continued also with Asia as we have been in Thailand first (Sandcastle, Mer Ka Ba, Maya, Jungle Experience) and Singapore. We also had the chance to be in Kotor, Montenegro in February, which was an amazing experience. It’s a 2000 year old city with a lot of history and a beautiful club (Maximus).
After gigs in Münster, Bremen, Winterthur (Switzerland) and Berlin, just to name a few, Markus went on the second Asia tour this year in April, playing in Bangkok (LiveRCA) and some gigs on Phangan (Lighthouse, Jungle Experience).
The summer was full with Open Airs and Festivals which was amazing and we had some strong ‘Kaiser Souzai’s Ballroom’ events in Hamburg, Berlin and Belgium.
What do you like about playing Jungle Experience?
We have played at Jungle three times already. Amazing light and sound, the vibe is outstanding and the Jungle crew is always on top of things. A pure pleasure to be part of it every single time.
What will you bring that is unique to Jungle?
Our production output is at its peak at the moment, so we will bring a lot of unreleased and exclusive material to showcase at Jungle.
Not to forget our Kaiser energy on stage of course!
What are your main projects for the rest of the year?
We are looking forward to have our releases coming out on BluFin, Throne Room Records, Treibjagd and Tulipa Recordings till the end of the year. Many new tracks will be signed soon also.
Our main focus is to expand the ‘Kaiser Souzai’s Ballroom’ event brand and of course to push the ‘Ballroom Records’ label more and more. This is the second year of the label and there are many more to come.
The next Asia tour for Jan/Feb 2017 will be planned and executed this year as well. Not to mention the many great shows and events we have in the calendar.
What would you say to aspiring djs hoping to play around the world?
If you love the music you play and what you do, if you not only want to bring joy to the people around you but also create a brand out of your unique style and appearance, keep on working on it, believe in yourself and be patient.
And leave us with your music philosophy….
What began as a music collaboration, has now become much more than that with the creation of their own musical genre of Art-rock Tech, drawing influence from 70's greats such as Pink Floyd, Genesis and Yes, yet still keeping to their roots of deep and progressive techno, electrifying dance floors across the globe.
Taking the stage with their incredible live performances and productions, Kaiser Souzai are continuing to emblazon the world with their unique brand that nobody will forget.
