Animal lover Maguy from Coral Bar

In the fall of 2000 Maguy left Israel to travel and see more of the world. She spent a few months working on a farm in australia before leaving for the Phillipines and the rest of South East Asia. She then met some friends who were heading down here to Phangan to the world famous full moon party, so she decided to go along and see some islands. Maguy took some time out to tell Phanganist more about her life and work here on Koh Phangan.

I was looking for a quiet beach to relax on before the party, we headed up to haad khom and I couldn't believe how beautiful it was.
This small beach has all I need, coral reef that protects soft white sand, lined by coconut trees. The ever changing turquoise waters are rarely disturbed with the usual traffic, it is so peaceful and so nice, I fell in love!

I Fell in love with this lush place, this family and my hubby Tak too! I was the luckiest girl in the world!!
After a few years raising our kids on the beach we came up with the idea to open the first late night bar on our beach and spice up this laid back beach life a bit!

Coral bar is a part of Coral Bay bungalows, this is a family run resort that has been open for over 25 years! There are 30 bungalows, some with the Haad Khom view and some facing Chaloklum bay. Also at the resort we have a restaurant that serves some of the best authentic Thai and Western food to be found on the island with a fabulous sea view.

Coral bar is right on the beach, the vibe is laid back and still very chilled. We are open from noon till late everyday and serve the planet's best mojitos, a variety of shakes, juices, cold beer, cocktails and much more!!

Of course the star of Coral Bar is my six year old mixed boar - "Dukdik"! She came to us by accident. They were going to eat the poor things! So we picked her from a litter of five because she was dancing around and the most happy and joyous little girl! She quickly became friends with all our dogs and over the years she has come to believe that she is a dog too!! She is a cute fat friendly piggy that you can never meet anywhere else!!

Dukdik has her own facebook page where you can find pics, funny videos and all sort of info about her! She is a star!! Please like!!

We also own the biggest dog on the island so far, he is a white great dane who arrived on the island a few years back from spain and is now loving it here with us at Coral Bar, his new family! His name is Joy, just like the big joy he is!!
