Tourism Authority of Thailand donates over 600,000Baht to Elephant Hospital

Tourism Authority of Thailand is pleased to declare that it is donating to Friends of the Asian Elephant and the Seub Nakhasathien Foundation over 600,000 Baht in funds collected by the "Thailand Reduce Waste" initiative. 
On Friday, 13 November 2020, the amount of 333,516.25 Baht was given to the Friends of the Asian Elephant and on Tuesday, 17 November 2020, 303,516.25 Baht was presented to the Seub Nakhasathien Base. 
Friends of the Asian Elephant, a elephant hospital where since 1993, over 5,000 sick and wounded elephants have been treated, while forest protection is committed to the Seub Nakhasathien Base. 
The Thailand Minimize Waste initiative, featuring famous Thai celebrity and entertainer Mr Palitchoke Ayanaputra (Peck Palitchoke) as a host, aims to raise knowledge among domestic tourists of the position they can play in waste management and conservation of the ecosystem. 
The campaign is part of TAT's policy to intensify the emphasis on sustainability at national tourist attractions and ensure the conservation of Thai tourism goods. It is also part of the strategy to help minimize waste linked to tourism by up to 50 per cent by 2020. 
The funds to be donated by TAT is made accessible via the Facebook page https:/www.facebook.com/TATCGANDCSR/. through the selling of cheerful daily-use bags made of upcycled content. These are available in bright blue or pink designs depicting the elephant that resides at the Elephant Research Centre in the province of Surin, 'Bua Ban.' 
Under the ongoing 'Thailand Minimize Waste' initiative, funds were collected through the selling of convenient daily-use bags made from upcycled waste content.
