While shopping in Koh Samui, you will find hundreds of bargains. Though there is a store worth visiting in almost every corner of the island, the main shopping areas are Chaweng, Lamai, and Nathon. Chaweng has the most options and Lamai has a good range of funky little shops, but Nathon has the best prices.

Central Festival Koh Samui

Food and Groceries

If you intend on staying on Koh Samui for an extended period of time, you may need to stock up on supplies. You will want to familiarize yourself with the different stores selling various items, whether it's food and groceries, cleaning supplies, or dog food. The largest supermarkets are clustered near Chaweng Beach, but smaller ones can be found across the island. These include Big C, Makro, Tops Market, Tesco Lotus, 7-Eleven, Family Mart and of course small independent Thai family-run stores plus fresh food markets.

Fashion and Clothes

When it comes to clothes, you'll be pleasantly pleased by the variety available on the island. There are, of course, usual holiday wear styles as well as high-quality designer swag to match the island’s vibrant reputation. Many independent designers have opened shops with exquisite clothes in the last few years. There is a wide range of shopping options including malls like Central Festival, as well as cheaper clothes in the markets.

Psylo

An Alternative Streetwear Apparel Store with Ethical Principles. Psylo, the Ethno-Punk pioneers, create original designs. Taking inspiration from underground subcultures and a variety of Arts & Crafts.

A French team created the Saona range, an Indonesian-inspired clothing line for women. Their designer was inspired by the natural beauty they are surrounded by, such as beaches, lush jungles, everyday details, and Asian attitudes.

Chandra

Chandra is an exotic boutique that sells one-of-a-kind clothes and shoes, as well as handbags and fashion accessories. It's a cut above the T-shirt and the fake sunglasses crowd that surrounds it. The boutique features quirky, exotic fashion from all over Asia, as well as unique Bali designs. They carry a wide range of sizes, and the fabrics used are ideal for the tropics.

Jewellery and Style

Jewellery is an essential part of life on Koh Samui. It's about expressing yourself and how you feel, maybe with the aid of the mystical powers of stones, or giving a piece to someone you care about as a token of your love. Traditional Thai jewellery, as well as more lavish and statement items, as well as foreign creations from around the world, are available.

Nature Jewellery

Since 1998, their stores have sold a diverse range of one-of-a-kind jewellery made of silver, gold, and gems, as well as a fine selection of leather goods.

Gifts and Souvenirs

You might want to take something or give something as a token of your time on Samui to friends and family all over the world. There's a lot to choose from here, including the traditional Thailand souvenirs found at markets and maybe something more special from the jewellery or clothing shops mentioned.

Electronics

Thailand's obsession with all things technical shows no signs of waning. There is a store to suit every taste and type of shopper. While Bangkok's maze-like mega-malls stock just about everything you can imagine, on the island of Koh Samui, boutique small shops selling electronics are more popular.
If you need a speaker or sound system for your home, there are a few shops in Chaweng and scattered around the island and Central Festival has more brand stores. Phones and accessories can be found in supermarkets or, once again, in smaller stores. This is one field of shopping where, depending on the standard you need, going to a reputable retailer, the mainland or shopping online might be preferable.
