The Art of Alap: Sitar music as Meditation by Alexandros Karsiotis
I’m so excited to invite you to a truly unique experience with Alexandros Karsiotis, an artist who blends the meditative depth of classical Indian music with the healing power of sound. Alexandros’s journey in music is nothing short of fascinating—he studied sitar in Varanasi for over a decade. He was initiated into Mongolian throat singing by the Tuvan shaman Nikolai Oorzhak. His music is more than just notes; it’s a sacred space inviting us to go deeper.
In this special session, Alexandros will guide us through the beautiful Alap, a form of Indian classical music that starts slow and serene, gradually building into a place of pure energy and ecstasy. The ragas Yaman and Bhairavi will take us on a journey from emptiness to fullness, and I promise you, it’s something you’ll feel in your soul.
Before the music begins, Alexandros will share a warm-up using simple but powerful shamanic sound practices. It’s a beautiful way to prepare ourselves as we hum together into energy points, tapping into healing frequencies. It’s gentle, fun, and profoundly effective—it’s a perfect way to connect before diving into the music's magic.
This isn’t just a concert; it’s a shared moment, an invitation to meditate, connect, and heal through sound. The Seeds of Dreams team can’t wait to experience this event with you.
With Love,
Katya
