In January of next year 'CHOMP The Comfort Cafe' located in Bangkok is playing host to around 20 or so graffiti/street artists for the exhibition 'Graffiti Gangs Bangkok Sweet Dreams'.
Bangkok is quickly becoming well known for its wide art scene with its many exhibitions and BKK GRAFF shop which is a registered seller of the best graffiti materials. We have managed to get in touch with some of the artist's involved in this event to tell you more about their work, first up 'Mister Bows'.
What is your Bangkok story?
I was born in Bangkok in 1984 and have lived here until now, for around thirty years. I really like this city because it has many people here. I like the prosperity here.
What is your background in graffiti?
I started graffiti in 2002, the first wall was in my home, my bedroom. I knew about graffiti art from NY, USA from 2000 when I went there with my Dad whilst looking for university and then I saw that there was a lot of graffiti art and I liked it, So when I went back to Bangkok I started from that time onwards.
How would you explain your style?
My style is like a funky, pop look which is easy to read with clean colours so that everyone knows that it’s my art. Because of the colours, I like to use pop colours but I can paint every style.
What are your influences and inspiration?
I am inspired from artist’s I find on the internet, I like to study them. There are many writers in the world and they are all great.
You have an event at Chomp along with other artist's next year, tell us a bit about this....
I hope it is all good, I am delighted for all of us artist’s to be working together.
What are your current projects?
At this time I am a graphic designer for SLUMLTD at Siam Square. It’s clothing brand.
What projects or collaborations would you like to do in the future?
Collaborations... if possible I would like to do something with Montana Spray cans or another brand.
What do you think of the Bangkok art scene?
Bangkok is good for art I think, especially new art. For people who have never seen graffiti or street art before I think this is a good place, and in the future it will be a good place to see this kind of art.
What do you do in your spare time?
Watch movies, listen to music, Ride my bike and travel.
