The children at Si Ri Panya School took part in World Book Day last week to celebrate the joy and value of books and reading!
To help get children started on their reading journey, there were a huge range of exciting booked themed events and activities at Si Ri Panya School showing the children how magical books can be.
Fancy Dress – Fairy tales!
On this special day, the children came to school dressed as their favourite character from any book. Prizes were awarded for the best dressed child from each class.
Harry Potter, Matilda, The BFG, The Gruffalo… Who can you spot?
New Reading Initiative
World Book Day will also kick-start a fantastic new reading initiative at Si Ri Panya.
Each week one student from each class will be awarded ‘Reader of the Week’; their names will be proudly displayed on a display at the entrance to the school.
Good reading starts early and children who share books with others are more likely to develop language skills and advanced reading levels. The Si Ri Panya School event is a fun way to get children’s imaginations fired up and encourage them to become avid readers.
If children read for just 15 minutes a day, in one year you will have read over 1,000,000 words!
