This dude has been DJing for the past 8 years and living in Bangkok for the last 4.
We asked for a small pre-snack before his performance in the Jungle Experience Party May 23 and he was so kind so share some of his insights.
"I like long walks on the beach and burgers ;-)" was his reply when we ask him for a short bio. Shorter is hard to find - so stay tuned for his full interview after his Jungle Experience tonight may 23!
Apparently - apropos his bio - one of his favourite hang outs in Phangan is Same-Same burger.
About his DJ career he say; "Unlike 90% of DJs I didn’t come from musical background… I wasn’t born with a guitar in hand or a family who composed music. I didn’t start collecting vinyl when I was 4 years old..."
First he was a breakdancer and into hip-hop.
He partied because he loved the music "and the breakdancing made it easy to pick up girls at the local underage discos :-P", he says
At an underage disco back when he was 15 he heard Daft Punks ‘One More Time’.
"It really had an impact on me. I still remember where I was standing in the club when it dropped. That was when my obsession with house started."
2 years later his brother and another friend bought a set of CDJ100s and the lowest model pioneer mixer on the market.
It was so bad that it didn’t even have an EQ but the boys still used the shit out of it and started to make cash in House parties until they could afford better gear.
"When I moved to Bangkok I didn’t like the scene for Underground music so I started throwing my own parties.
That was when things started to move fast and now I’m almost a full time DJ.
There aren’t many clubs in BKK that I haven’t played and I’ve also headlined at local festivals and my last international tour was in Malaysia. I also play for a lot of luxury brands like Porsche Design, Johnnie Walker Blue Label, Mercedes, Audemars Piquet etc..."
What are you Phangan connection/story?
"I first DJ’ed in Phangan in the 2009/10 New Years while on holiday.
I made good friends with one of the DJs from Mellow mountain and used to travel there almost once every two months to play the lead up parties to Full moon.
That’s still is some of the best time I’ve ever had DJ’ing but soon died after the bar moved their DJ booth to the WORST location I have ever seen.
During this time of traveling to play Mellow I made friends with Darragh Casey who I still consider to be one of Thailands best DJs. I brought Darragh to play in BKK and we have been good mates ever since."
You have been playing in different venues on Phangan already – How did you like the different parties?
"The vibe in Phangan is amazing. I just played Loy Lay Floating bar on the 19th of May.
Its funny because some times in BKK you have to work your ass off to a crowd who is more worried about what they are wearing then what tunes are playing.
But in Phangan you could have 5 people who walk into an empty venue and immediately they are rocking it on the dance floor! Now that’s what its all about!"
What can we expect from you at the Jungle Party on the 23rd ?
"Bottle in hand CDJ in the other… dancing in the booth.
I’m going to play for the ladies… percussive and vocal tech house.
Big influence lately has been a lot of DJ Chus and Stereo Labels stuff. Will finish the night with a visit to same-same burger… Can’t WAIT!"
Coran also told us that he really like the way Koh Phangan is going at the moment.
"In just 2 years the island has a growing reputation for quality music. Places like Jungle Experience and Loy Lay Floating bar are really pushing things forward.
Also have to give a shout out to Kangaroo, Guys Bar and Eden. Quality tunes all round! I’m going to try make it back more often."
