Mr Fidelity Loyal to the Music

DJ Guy FideliTy

Born in Aldershot in the UK. Growing up all over the UK but ending up at the age of 11 in Godalming in Surrey,South West of London.

Phanganist met with Mr Fidelity after his return from his travels to San Francisco around December - January.
Back on the Island again as he has been since 2008.
We thought the easy way to get a good story is to let the people tell it themselves. So that is what we did!

Please elaborate Mr Fidelity;

"It all started back in 1997 messing around on my friend’s Gemini turntables.

It was old skool, acid techno and the Prodigy back then.
I still have an original of Praga Khan – Injected with a Poison somewhere at home haha..

Needless to say I was never very good but then in 2001 I broke my ankle and with the prospect of 3 months at home I bought a pair of Vestax and finally got down to practising properly also playing some dnb I had now acquired.

Then after a while I lost interest as many do playing to their bedroom walls and sold the equipment to a friend and enjoyed being on the other side of the decks for a number of years; I believe the decks are still going now over 10yrs later.

I came to Thailand in November 2004 and I fell in Love with this Place with its people and the certain energy here!
I returned 6 months later and this became a yearly thing with a year on Koh Phi Phi in 2006.

This is when my passion for music returned!

The feeling you get when you are rocking a crowd is like no other. When I’m up there I wouldn’t change where I am for the world. It feels awesome when you get people coming up and showing their appreciation.

Phangan is definitely the place for me though now.
Occasionally I get bored and go traveling but then wherever I go I just wish I was back on Phangan.
Even after leaving for 1 day border run I still find myself practically kissing the ground when I get back to the island.

I can’t see myself anywhere else in the future at the moment. I just love it here too much.

When I first got back into DJing I was playing a mix of Electro, House and Techno.

Now I have progressed into a lot more Deep/Tech House and Minimal Techno with a sprinkle of breaks.

I enjoy playing the earlier sets now as much as the banging later sets;

I currently hold a residency at Fubar in Haad Rin and Rhythm & Sands near Thongsala.

I have also played a number of sets at Pirates Bar, Sramanora, the Half Moon Afterparty and Jungle Experience.

I scratch my Drum n bass itch from time to time down at Sunrise Bar too.
Now that I’m back from my travels I am continuing to enjoy playing around the island as well as getting more into the production side of music which is where I can see my path heading.

There are lots of excellent DJs on the island but the ones who really stand out to me would be my business partner Joe aka Kaonashi, David Chong, Darragh Casey and Jourdan Bordes.

I’ve also been hearing some really great music from DJ’s Girlfriend and PEP."

Right now - and has been for a while - Our Koh Phangan Guy - is a partner and a resident DJ in FUBAR.

Joe Kaonashi & Guy Fidelity have made the FUBAR Monday session quite famous by now - and still every Monday the FUBAR are open to all guests with Resident and International Guest DJs playing Tech House Tunes side by side.

Guy's favourite places here on Phangan are Guy's Bar and Backyard closely followed by Eden and Fubar of course!

His favorite track at the moment is: The only one by shadow child 

Before we the ending of his Story, Phanganist would like to get a bit closer to the Fidelity Guy so we asked more into his Dreams.

"Well I’d love to be able to fly and X ray vision would certainly have its bonuses"

He is also the proud owner of Big Sweet Muscle Dog Mia - with a heart bigger than her body - and now also a little new puppy male dog.
I think we can call him a real doggie Lover - without lying!
I asked how they were doing today and he told me that they are just fine ! Fun Fun Fun with Doggie family and Guy!

To the secret of his toothpaste smile he has very little to add. "I brush my teeth and use mouth wash" - Oh Dear, dont we all? Still not the same ... *
