ANDY WARHOL, POP ART & THE SCENE IN BANGKOK - A Chat with Panu Boonpipattanapong

7 Jul 2022

River City is hosting the very first exhibition of Warhol in Thailand and Panu Boonpipattanapong (also known as Eddie) is helping with the show. Eddie helps to translate, does talks and is also an art writer, columnist and has published art books with a passion for Pop Art.

ANDY WARHOL: POP ART showcases the works of the pop art icon in four categories: Self–Portraits and Photos; Celebrity Portraits; Magazine and Album Covers; Silk Printing, and Sculptures. Never before has an international collection of the original art of this calibre and cultural importance been shown in Thailand. It follows two years in the planning by River City Bangkok management, quickly becoming the most anticipated exhibition of the year.

ANDY WARHOL: POP ART is the private collection of Mr Gianfranco Rosini, an Italian born into a family passionate about art. Immersed in that environment, he met many well-known celebrities and artists like Judy Galland’s daughter, Liza Minelli whose portrait by Warhol will be seen in the exhibition. Ms Minelli introduced Rosini to Warhol in Rome in 1985.

Mr Rosini said of this collection. “I believe that this exhibition is one of the most representative of the ‘European’ character of American, Andy Warhol, certainly the only one that includes glimpses of his many times in Italy!”
