At LABracadabra, we reuse, recycle & upcycle as a way of life to do our part in reducing waste on the island.

Our whole crew is a BIG fan of Rick and Morty, and we've been dreaming of making a life size portal, and the time to do it has finally come!!!! needless to say, we are all VERY excited!

For this Project, we decided to use COLORED HDPE bottle caps!

This specific type of plastic (labelled number 2) has pretty good properties that make it easy to recycle into new things!

the process will involve melting bottle caps with a heat gun and swirling it while it's still hot to get the spiral effect.

But first things first, we need A LOT of bottle caps !!!! preferably shades of green and yellow, but we'll take any color for future projects! So tell your friends and start collecting them !

We'll have to start with cleaning the caps in the morning during sorting meditation, then start the melting process after a lunch break.

Here at LABracadabra, we try to find new ways to divert trash from it's saddening fate : the landfill.

At our own little scale, that mostly mean, upcycling !!! We are constantly brainstorming new ways to make treasures with what's laying around unwanted, in order to change the way we consume.

We develop and show these hacks to you so you can share them with even more people !

There are some CLEAN trash items you can drop off at LABra ! see the full list through this link :

This is your chance to build some new Eco habits and start processing your trash in a way it can be reused 🙂.

HOW IT WORKS:

On every 1st & 2nd Saturday of the month, we will make progress on this project together, showing you how to melt the HDPE into the portal.

We will have a ready to use station with all the tools necessary to make the flowers, so after you've come to a session to see how it works you can come back whenever you want - within opening hours 10am-5pm- to grow our project one bottle cap at the time !

You can send us a message to let us know you're coming and don't forget to bring your friends, 'cuz the more the merrier !

This activity is part of our Upcycling Hacks Series designed to help tune our minds into a different way of looking at the materials we use to make our projects.

We have a different Upcycling LAB Session every Saturday of the month:

📌1st Saturday of the month :
Tetrapak Origamis

📌2nd Saturday of the month:
Glass cutting

📌3rd Saturday of the month :
Pull Ring Chaimaille

If you'd like to get involved in our Recycling journey even more, you can join us every Saturday morning for Sorting Meditation ! Helping us will grant you FREE LAB Passes!
