DJ Makosha, originally from Kazakhstan has been to Koh Phangan six times already to visit but is now here to play at Moon Dance (located at Shiva Moon) on the 17th.
Already in love with the island itself and its party scene, we find out more about what she will bring to the Psychedelic scene of this magic island…
How did you start your DJ career?
I was the best dancer in Kazakhstan in 2008. So in 2007 I was already finishing my successful career as a dancer and was looking for something new.
I wanted to have a stage to still perform and feel this energy so that’s why I started playing Techno. It was not only Techno that I played, I opened myself up for Dark Psy.
How did you discover Psychedelic music?
Through psychological forces which were diving me deep into myself, into my feelings and perception of the world.
Why Dark Psy in particular?
I think it’s not a dark music, people perceive it that way but it's not what I think and feel. This music is much deeper for me, I like depth, the mood and the style of it.

How did you get involved with Moon Dance here on Phangan?
Myself and DJ Kia have played back to back at many parties in Kazakhstan so this is why I am here now.
What do you hope to bring to Moon Dance on the 17th?
I have really good taste in music and it's a proven fact, I feel music in another way, a more proper way, from both sides and there is the right beat as well in music that I play. People will see it, you just have to wait.
Do you like the Psychedelic scene here?
Definitely, and I have attended this party before as a participant.
Being a dancer before do you think this adds something different?
Yes, I know how you feel inside when you dance, when the music just pours in your veins, so it’s comparable, when you feel both ways, you just know what drives people better.
What are your plans for the rest of the year?
I want to play non stop and be better in this industry and maybe start writing music. I will play in a Russian festival this year.
I also own a shop in Kazakhstan which is a dark fashion psy shop, named SpaceMachine. It is the one and only in all Kazakhstan so I will be driving that as well.
