As Koh Phangan attracts more families to enjoy this wonderful island you can find lots of things to do together which are child-friendly and will give you amazing memories from your time on Koh Phangan!

Visit the Beaches
Some of the most family friendly beaches would be Chaloklum, Haad Yao, Haad Salad, Haad Rin (when outside of Full Moon time) and Thong Nai Pan but you can pretty much find a spot on any beach for the family!
Spend time with your family unwinding and relaxing on the sand, building sandcastles or take a ball to play some games whilst also dipping in the sea for those perfect tropical holiday vibe memories.

Phaeng Waterfall

This is one of the most easiest accessible waterfalls on the island and the route to walk to the viewpoint and further up the waterfall is all laid out with a path for you.
You can cool off in the water and have a glimpse at what it’s like in the jungles of Phangan but in a safe way. Be aware that there may not be loads of water if you visit during the hot season.

Koh Ma and Mae Haad Beach

Koh Ma is a small island that is attached to Mae Haad beach via a sandbar. This beach is really family friendly with lovely water to swim in and also snorkel from!
You can walk all along this lovely stretch of beach down to the sandbar and across to Koh Ma where you can walk around this little island. There’s nothing much on Koh Ma but it’s a sweet little activity to do together before or during spending time on the beach here.

Snorkelling

Snorkeling is a great way to see some aquatic nature here on the island and it can be safe for most ages. A good place is from Mae Haad beach as mentioned above but you could also book a tour or just take your snorkels wherever you go on Koh Phangan to check out the sea!

Thai Boxing

Muay Thai is a big part of Thai Culture and a lot of children train and even take part in fights, bear in mind it is a good discipline. Of course it is down to individual parents whether you think it is suitable for members of your own family.
You could all take a class together at one of the many gyms or go out to watch the sport in action!

Beach clean up

Teach the family to appreciate all of the amazing beaches you visit by taking part in a beach clean up! These happen pretty regularly organised b Trash Hero or you can just do your own!

Kite Boarding and Water Sports

Koh Phangan is a great place for Kiteboarding and other water sports such as stand up paddle board, depending on the ages of your family. There are many schools who can organise everything and teach you, they are mostly located in Baan Tai.

Bicycle tours

If you don’t want to rent a car or scooters (which may not be safe for young children) then try out a bicycle tour. Riding a bicycle is a lovely way to see some spots on the island and the tour will take you to some nice places through palm tree lined small roads that are safe and not so busy.

Angthong Boat trip

Go and visit the beautiful National Marine Park of Angthong with a choice of speedboat or slower boat to enjoy the journey. It is an amazing sight to see and you will stop off at some of the islands to enjoy the natural beaches and ocean, it’s a great day out for all the family!

Seaboard Bizarre Bazaar

This is a great place for children and adults and very family friendly. The Bizarre Bazaar is like a mini market with stalls of people selling lovely things and they have a DJ playing music too. The beach is one of the best with lovely water to swim in. Watch the sunset together and enjoy some food as the DJ continues through the evening.

Saturday Walking Street Market

A great little highlight of every week is Thong Sala’s Walking Street Market. From 4pm the road is closed as market sellers line the ‘Chinese Street’ for a local market. This is a great place to pick up souvenirs or gifts to take home plus lots of snacks to try out and clothes too!

Enjoy Koh Phangan with the whole family!
