Sail Rock

Sail Rock, near Koh Samui, is one of the most famous dive sites in the Gulf of Thailand, revered by divers for its unique underwater landscape and abundant marine life. This isolated pinnacle, rising from the depths, offers a diverse range of diving experiences from wall dives to swim-throughs. Sail Rock is particularly famous for its vertical chimney, a natural swim-through that divers can enter at 18 meters and exit at 12 meters. The site is a magnet for large schools of fish, and its waters teem with barracudas, batfish, jacks, and the occasional whale shark, making it a must-visit for divers seeking both adventure and the opportunity to observe some of the ocean's most majestic creatures in their natural habitat.

Angthong National Marine Park

Angthong National Marine Park, located near Koh Samui, is a spectacular diving destination known for its pristine natural beauty and diverse marine ecosystem. Spread over 42 islands, it offers a plethora of dive sites featuring stunning coral gardens, underwater rock formations, and a variety of marine life including colorful fish, sea turtles, and occasional sightings of larger species. Diving in Angthong National Marine Park is often combined with surface intervals on picturesque, uninhabited islands with white sandy beaches and hidden lagoons. When to Dive

The best time to dive in Koh Samui is typically between March and October, with optimal conditions prevailing during the summer months. During this period, the waters around Koh Samui are known for their clarity and calmness, offering excellent visibility for divers. This time of year is also when marine life is most abundant and diverse, enhancing the underwater experience. However, it's important to note that while diving can be enjoyed year-round, the monsoon season from November to February may bring rougher seas and reduced visibility, making some dive sites less accessible. Therefore, planning a dive trip during the drier months can provide the most rewarding and comfortable diving conditions.

Typical Marine Life

Diving in Koh Samui offers an opportunity to encounter a diverse array of marine life. Divers can expect to see a variety of colorful tropical fish, such as butterflyfish, angelfish, and bannerfish. Larger species like barracudas, groupers, and moray eels are also common. The reefs around Koh Samui are home to various species of hard and soft corals, sea fans, and anemones, hosting small creatures like nudibranchs and shrimps. During certain times of the year, divers might also have the chance to spot majestic whale sharks and graceful sea turtles, making the diving experience in Koh Samui truly memorable.
