Phangan institution Food Factory is undergoing a transformation! Everyone’s favourite ‘northerner’ Wayne Short is now the man at the wheel behind this new lease of life.

He kindly invited the team in for some food and to tell us what he’s got planned.

Food Factory will still offer it’s reliable tasty fast food but it’s going up a notch with a new kitchen, new pizza oven and menu.

‘We want to make it a place where people come to meet and hang out, not just eat and leave. It can act like a good little warm up to more of a party in Bangers and Mash next door, it’s going to be more communal’ says Wayne.

‘We will have better music and a different concept for the place, it is the main meeting point for sports on Koh Phangan as it’s rare that people show sports and we are open twenty four hours’.

Food Factory will undergo a big renovation and be closed for one week when this happens which will be the first time they have been closed in six years!

They’re currently showing all sports and upcoming finals and will be getting even more channels with better times to show things like the FA Cup finals, UFC and the Champions League etc…

‘We’re getting a smart TV so you can rewind events, it won’t matter if you miss the cup final because of travelling for example as we can rewind back to it’.

Wayne is also going to do a ‘Wayne’s World’ promotion (a play on the film of course but totally fitting with our man Wayne), free bbqs and celebrations like ‘Australia Day’ which they did last week.

Wayne speaks very highly of the staff, I’m sure any of you who have been to Food Factory will agree.

‘It’s the staff that make it tick, they’re the heartbeat of the place and they work really hard’.

The food menu has the slogan ‘We keep it classic’ and they have five different burgers which you can make into a combo (and save fifty Baht), pizzas made in the stone bake oven, salads if you want the more healthy option and the best deal on breakfast on Phangan for just 150 Baht.

The pizzas are available from 5pm onwards and can also be taken away.

We tucked into a cheeseburger and the piri piri chicken burger with fries, the food is always satisfying and the piri piri is amazing! The burgers are served on wooden boards and they have proper vinegar!

Later that night we went back for some pizza, Food Factory transforms into the perfect evening sports bar with a friendly conversing crowd enjoying food and sports on the TV.

Wayne was doing a game for everyone to participate in and possibly win some beers!

We had a 'Diablo' with salami, peppers and chilli oil, its a hot one! It is a thin crust made in the wood fired oven.

Soren was explaining about the oven and how it cooks differently depending on the wood, this is the 'romantic' way to cook a pizza.

The pizzas are really reasonably priced for their quality and very delicious.

We even had another after that one! The second one had black olives, parmesan and was cheesy (as you can see from the pictures!

There was a nice crowd who were enjoying the football match they were showing, eating with friends and playing darts. The atmosphere felt warm and relaxed.

It’s a great place to grab a pizza, they’re always delicious and the cheese melts all nice and gooey, perfect hangover food or for those times when you want to indulge in some comfort.

They are going to keep the american diner, retro style but take it a bit more upmarket with a larger seating area so that people can eat, watch sports, socialise and relax all at once.

Food Factory is a sucessful, long established business with champion owners Chris and Soren,  they have chosen wisely with Wayne, he is a great addition to the team and obviously up for the challenge!

In fact, we reckon that people will probably go there just to hang out with the man himself!

Good luck to all the team at Food Factory in your next chapter.
