In Spain, Hotelbeds has announced the introduction of The Green Hotels Program, a turnkey approach for bringing the green economy to Hotelbeds and its partners and accelerating the transition to sustainability for the travel industry.

Hotelbeds currently has over 15,000 properties certified as responsible within its portfolio to focus on establishing a more responsible and sustainable business model.

The more than 60,000 travel trade consumer partners of Hotelbeds and Bedsonline, including travel agents, tour operators, airlines, and point redemption schemes, will now easily identify these hotels with this new green filter that will include certification details and tags.

As part of this project, Hotelbeds can announce that it has become a full member of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC), the world's leading authority for the establishment and management of sustainable travel & tourism standards.

Hotelbeds also partnered with global sustainability certification companies to identify fully approved hotel properties to certify over 15,000 properties as environmental, following the requirements of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) for hotels.

The requirements are organized around four main themes: effective planning for sustainability, maximizing the local community's social and economic benefits, enhancing cultural heritage, and reducing negative environmental impacts.

HotelBeds takes Corporate Social Responsibilities quite seriously. The organization is focused on and committed to environmentally and socially sustainable business practices that acknowledge its stakeholders' short and long-term concerns, whilst integrating sustainability and accountability into the company.

As such, Hotelbeds launched its first annual Corporate Sustainability Report in 2019, which can be accessed through the company's website's Corporate Sustainability section.
