DOPPELGÄNGER PART II
"Not until Freud revealed the importance of the irrational in man have we been willing to admit the possibility that each of us has within us a second or a shadow self dwelling beside the eminently civilised, eminently rational self, a Double who may at any time assert its anti-social tendencies.”

—Rosenfield, Claire. “The Shadow within: The Conscious and Unconscious Use of the Double.” Daedalus, vol. 92, no. 2, 1963, pp. 326–344.

These four films explore the idea of a “double” in myriad ways: as a fever dream born out of isolation; as an impossibility realised through grief; as a manifestation of the subconscious psychosexual self. By exploring the existential threat posed by the double, these films force us to confront the tenuous nature of our constructed identities.
