Death has always been an immense thought for me. For many of us, death has been a climax of our life as it is the moment when everything comes to an end, the moment which we are trying to remember, recall, redeem, and saying goodbye to our whole life. These dying moments deliver the different meanings toward each life, both toward the dying one and toward the living.
I’ve chose four films, Biutiful (Alejandro G. Inaritu), a story of Uxbal, a criminal who is able to see death and only has a few months to live before the spirit which he communed comes to claim his life; Last Life In The Universe (Pen-ek Ratanaruang), a story of a Japanese librarian who wants to commit a suicide due to the anxiety and isolation he has towards the city until he met a bar-hostess Noi who her sister just recently passed away; The Famous and the Dead (Esmir Filho), a story of a Bob Dylan fanboy who goes by the name Mr.Tambourine Man who lives a Brazilian countryside town which people frequently commit suicide; and Afterlife (Hirokazu Koreeda), a film with a concept of after death, a person can only bring one piece of memory to live with them forever.
Born in 1993 in Bangkok, Natchanon Vana graduated from Chulalongkorn University, major in Communication Management. Began his film career in 2012 and currently working as a film director and visual artist where he used his film works to tell about tragedies and romances in the modern oblivion especially among the middle-class of Bangkok.
