Colleen is also a registered experienced yoga teacher (ERYT200; RYT500),a certified Pilates instructor and certified in various forms of massage and bodywork. CERTIFICATION Saliya Life Institute is a Registered Yoga School (RYS-200) and the curriculum of this trauma-sensitive yoga teacher training is approved by the international Yoga Alliance. The lead educator and facilitator of this training is also an emergency first response instructor. Graduates have the choice of registering with both of these international associations. OBJECTIVES AND INTENTIONS Our 5 main objectives for this program are the following Objective 1: Employability. The main objective of the program is to be capable of teaching a 75 minute trauma sensitive yoga group session; a one-on-one 60 minute trauma sensitive yoga private session; lead a suitable 60 minute workshop; a full body massage ; an experiential understanding of art therapy and the importance of creativity in healing. : Objective 2: A clear and thorough understanding of professional code of ethics, professional responsibilities and code of conduct as these relate to commitments to students, the profession, and the public, within the scope of practice of a yoga teacher. Ethical business practices are included in this objective. Objective 3: A foundational understanding of Ayurveda being the sister science of Yoga as a support to yoga teachers and students. The program participant will have sufficient knowledge to support ongoing studies in this field. Objective 4: A sufficient understanding of anatomy and physiology as it relates to yoga and more specifically relating to trauma sensitive yoga. Participants will complete a full EFR (Emergency First Response) training as part of this program and will be eligible to register with Emergency First Response should they so choose. Objective 5: To directly contribute to sustainable personal and social understanding, acceptance, transformation and improvement.
