Khao Tham Meditation Center

Registration opens at 8.30am on the 10th, formal meditation begins on the 11th at 5pm but please register on the 10th.

Kow Tham Insight Meditation Center has been holding monthly Vipassana meditation retreats since 1988, when it was founded by Thai nun Mae Chee Ahmon to provide a place for international travelers to practice Buddhist Meditation.

The Center is located in the hills above Baan Tai on Koh Phangan.

The  Center follows the teachings of Buddhadasa Bhikkhu and the Thai Forest Tradition (Theravada). It is associated with Suan Mokkh in Suratthani, and with the adjacent Wat Kow Tham (Mountain Cave Monastery).

The purpose of the Kow Tham Center is only to spread the dhamma. There is no fee for teachings, but the Center survives only on donations from the retreatants.

Website and contact information:

Our teachers in June will be James Thomas and Tookata Sookasem.

Meditation is practiced continuously throughout the day in silence.
Periods of formal sitting meditation, walking meditation, and awareness in daily activities are complemented by dhamma talks and meditation instructions. All activities are formally performed in group.
Accommodation and meals are provided, and there is no charge for the retreat. Donations are happily accepted.
