Do It Yourself Day Tour around Koh Phangan

With so much to do and chose from on this small island it can sometimes be hard to know what to do with your day.

Especially if you are only here for a short amount of time whilst island hopping, you may want to squeeze in as much as you can.

There are a few options for travelling to spots around the island, you can rent a bike if you are a confident driver or even rent a car for you and your friends. If you don’t want to drive or can’t then you can arrange a minibus and driver to take you around the island to see and experience some great things.

We thought we would put together a nice little tour for you…

Viewpoint
Start by going to Thong Nai Pan and keep going on the main road to Thong Nai Pan ‘Yai’. If you follow this up and over the steep hill you will get to ‘2 C Bar’.

This is a small quaint little bar which also serves as a wonderful viewpoint across the bays of Thong Nai Pan where you can admire the beautiful turquoise ocean and jungle views.

Waterfall
Once you have finished taking in the sights you can head towards Than Sadet, this is going down from Thong Nai Pan on the main road towards the south.

Than Sadet waterfall is famous for being one of King Rama V’s favourite places to visit and is seen as a sacred place by locals.

It is the only waterfall on the island which still has water in dry season although of course it is at its best when we have had rainfall.

There are pools to cool off in and even a rope so you can swing from one of the largest rocks straight into the water!

Biggest Yai Tree
Koh Phangan’s largest Yang Na Yai tree is believed to more than four hundred years old and is over forty five metres tall!

It is a beautiful tree next to the temple at the bottom of the road to Thong Nai Pan so stop off and have a walk around it.

Ko Raham Snorkelling
Ko Raham is situated in Haad Son Resort right next to Secret Beach in Haad Yao in the west part of the island so you will drive through the fishing village of Chaloklum where you may want to stop off and have a wander around.

At Ko Raham you walk right out into the ocean on their pier where the seating area is at the end and this is where you can snorkel and will be guaranteed to see tropical fish!

Sunset
After you have enjoyed your encounter with the marine life you can stay and watch the beautiful sunset from here. It is one of the best places as the sun is pretty much directly in front of you.

Or you could walk on to Secret beach which is right next door to enjoy the wonder whilst sitting on the soft sand.

Food Market
Once the sun has gone down you can drive along the coast of Hin Kong into Thong Sala where you can re-energise at the famous food market.

Panthip market has everything from local thai food, curries, fried chicken and western cuisine like freshly made pasta and falafel.

This is a must visit for any traveller coming to Koh Phangan and the perfect way to end a great day of activities around the island.

Now you have landed back in Thong Sala, the central location of Koh Phangan it will be easy to plan the rest of your night around this. Whether it be to party or shop or just having a few drinks at a bar close by.
