DJ Jane's journey from Bangkok to Drop In Bar Koh Phangan

DJ Jane is from Bangkok, specifically from the famous "Kao San Road" that every traveler/ backpacker knows...

Thanks for the interview. What's your Koh Phangan Story?

6 years ago, as a student in an university in Bangkok, I came along with a group of friends and I liked it so much that I started to come every full moon to party!

After a while, my brother who is living in Koh Phangan, asked me to move here as they needed a new DJ in his club.

That was 9 months ago and I have been ever since a  DJ Resident in the famous "Drop In Bar" in Haad Rin Beach.

How do you learn how to be a DJ ?

I learned DJing with a friend of mine who is a DJ Resident in "Luna Bar" 3 years ago but I am still learning everyday!

I love music and I like to give my best whenever I play.

I really enjoy meeting people, make them dance all night long, chatting with them and the craziness of a party.

I like to share my music with other people, make them feel happy and enjoy themselves on the dancefloor.

Where did you play your first gigs ?

I performed as a DJ in Bangkok  in the famous clubs "The Club","The Lava Club" and "Golf Bar" but also in Krabi at "Luna Beach Bar".

"Drop In Bar" is the only place I play in Koh Phangan for the moment but I wish I could play in big festivals and events here!

What do you think about Koh Phangan music and party scene? 

Phangan is a special place with special people. I think the party scene is amazing with nice people and a great atmosphere. I like it very much.

What kind of music do you like ? Which style do you play at Drop In Bar?

I like commercial, Disco Funk, Break Beat, edm, progressive House and Trance. 

Usually, at "drop in bar" I play commercial hits, edm, r’n’b, hip hop and sometimes deep house.

Who  is your favorite DJ?

My favorite DJ is Jane Calypso. He is also from Thailand and is worldwide famous, I wish I could be like him one day.

How  can you describe  Koh Phangan nightlife in comparison with Bangkok and Krabi?

Bangkok is  more "thai atmosphere", Krabi nightlife is concentrated  around Ao Nang beach whereas Koh Phangan is more international with tourists from all around the world, that's why it is my favorite place to play.

How do you spend you free time on the island? Where is your favorite place here?

My friends from Bangkok visit me quite often and we like to drive around the island, dancing in the parties such as Full Moon, Half moon, BackYard, Jungle... My favorite place i usually visit is Shiralea hostel as my friends work there.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

I would love to be the N°1 in Thailand and the best DJ in Haad Rin Beach! That sounds presumptuous but for this goal, I am not afraid to work a lot as this is my passion.
