Our Japanese friends popped in to say hello! Here with singer Alba Natsuki this group of Dj’s have played a few gigs on the island already and are mixing in the parties at the same time.
Fresh from the New Year Full Moon party, here’s what they had to say...
How are you enjoying Phangan?
Great! it’s nothing but great!
We have been relaxing and eating thai food like pigs, we like to eat a lot!
So where have you played?
In Fubar, and Kin played Sunrise bar last night which was awesome.
Fubar was nice, a good crowd, some japanese people came to see us. They knew through the internet that we would be there. It is so rare to for four japanese djs to play in Phangan for one night.
What’s the japanese party scene like?
They love EDM there is no room for House, Dubstep etc, they follow the american style but I think they will catch up.
Most of the djs use laptops and usb’s and most of the parties at start at 11pm and are only on weekends, there’s very few weekday parties.
Would you like to see a more wide variety of music and clubs?
Yes of course because we only have two types of clubs. Clubs that play top 40 songs or EDM, it's only hit music. There are very core music fans but not a lot, it would be nice to have more music lovers, people who like timeless music as we need more variety.
Last night for the full moon countdown was good as there was a good variety, each dj booth had different music, this all on one beach. This is very rare in Japan.
What are your projects for next year?
On the 23rd of January we have our party that we do once every two months for one to two hundred people, it’s called ‘Lipstick’.
We play a mix of genres, Hip Hop, House, EDM, in Japan you always have all different genres mixed together.
We do a Full Moon party in Japan in summer. We copy the Koh Phangan style with neon stuff, buckets, the whole style. The craziest thing is that japanese people never get used to buckets, they get drunk really easily.
What do you want to do next time you’re on Koh Phangan?
We want to play Sunrise bar with all of us playing, Dj Kin played last night and was very good and we like the sound system there.
We would also like to play Amsterdam bar, we love it.
Next time it will be good to invite more japanese people here, we met twenty last night so we can get more and more coming from Japan to party.
