Ssongg who is originally from South Korea came to Koh Phangan in 2007 when she was travelling. Whilst she was here she went to the parties and loved it, she would then travel to Phangan several times before meeting Koi in 2012 and moving here for good.
So tell us about working getting involved with Shiva Moon….
Koi was already a Dj in Shiva Moon for a long time so when I moved to Koh Phangan I also started to Dj there. Then one year ago we made a house in the Shiva Moon area and now we manage and organise the party. My role is to Dj but also I am the promoter and Koi and Jo Moontribe organise the Dj’s.
What is unique about Shiva Moon?
It’s underground, or it WAS underground! I like the energy in Shiva Moon because the sunlight is really really beautiful on the dance floor in the morning.
It’s located in Baan Tai jungle and the dance floor is in a bowl so when the sun comes up and comes into the dance floor you get the energy of the solar shower. We enjoy the party in the morning as the sunlight is very special for Shiva Moon, it’s quite dark at night but when the sun comes up then you can see the coconut trees and see and feel the hidden nature of the night time.
What do you like about the Phangan party scene?
It is very special to me, usually in Korea or Japan I would go camping with all my stuff and my friends to the open air parties but Phangan parties are part of normal life which is good for me.
I can enjoy the parties all month with the nature, music and beautiful decorations.
Why do you love Trance music?
Trance music is special because now it is unique. With the Trance melody I feel psychadelic and emotional compared to when I listen to House music. And it has the good balance with nature, Trance sounds contain the sound of nature and people who like Trance are smiling people!
Where do you go to relax?
I like to stay in Shiva Moon, in my house there I can listen to the sounds of birds and bugs.
If I want to go to the beach I like to go to Ban Sabaii, I love it there.
What do you hope for the future of Shiva Moon?
Now many young people are coming to Koh Phangan and I want the future of Shiva to be the door to Trance music for the young people again, so they can have a happy hippy mind.
