Hey Roxy so how did you end up on Koh Phangan?
I came from bangkok and one day I went to a travel agents, not knowing where I wanted to go next. A woman with the name ‘Ohm’ asked me 3 questions about what I want, who I am etc and said “girl u need to go to Koh Phangan!” So trusted her and left and have not looked back since, this was one year ago.
Aw I love that story! When did you start dancing?
When I was very young. I started with many different styles of dance from street, hip hop and even breakdancing. In university it was more ballet and traditional styles. Dancehall became my choice, my favourite one.
Who are your dance influences?
Just all the top dancers who inspire many people not just me. Music is also a big inspiration
What is special in dancehall?
It is not a kind of dance but a way of dancing. The way u hear and feel the music. The main part is how your attitude is, without this it is like empty gymnastics.
What do you feel your dancing can bring to the people?
Some light for sure.
How did you get to practice and teach dancehall?
Here on the island I just wished I had someone to dance with but no one knew this style, it’s quite fresh here. I started to teach because I wanted to share it with people.
Where do you run your classes on Koh Phangan?
3 times a week in a studio in Sri Thanu.
What is the best thing you ever been involved with or done?
With my dancing I have found a way to travel.
Where is your favourite place here and what do you do in your free time?
I’m at home relaxing. I do like the beach at Ban Sabai in the daytime as no one is there.
