Label boss Rory Gallagher flew straight back to the UK after the Moon Islands Records launch at the Full Moon Party . Luckily for us, Rory's partner in this new island record label venture, Rob Gritton, was there to fill us in...
Rob is having it, well into his groove, as Rory Gallagher, a man with the driving ambition to get to the top of his game, is the Don Mega record boss for the eve!
Rob, congratulations on your new record label! How was the launch party for you?
The launch party was great, held on the full moon night at the famous Mellow Mountain Bar so was guaranteed a great crowd... And the music was spot on all night. We had to disappear at 4:30 tho as Rory had to get the 1st boat at 5 am and needed a lift to the other side of the island to catch it!!
How did Moon Island Records come about?
Rory and I met about 6-7 months ago through Graham Gold as a mutual friend - and both playing at the Ku Club or Electronic Lounge as it was called at the time.
I have been getting more and more into producing my own tracks to play out and to hopefully get signed, and Rory originally coming from the trance scene was warming to the island's underground house and techno sound.
Naturally we ended up having a few studio sessions and Rory mentioned he was thinking of starting a label and wanted me and Graham to be involved. Obviously this was very interesting for me, especially as Rory is already the owner of a very successful record label, Alter Ego Records.
We came up with the name together and worked on the logo, we have a connection with all the DJ's for this genre on the island and a few of them are producing...

So we have a good stock pile of tracks to release over the next few months. We are hoping to promote the island's house sound that you hear at many of the parties on the island - and put something into the scene for DJs to use through out the world - from Koh Phangan!
We are looking for producers who are making house and techno music mainly, are connected to Koh Phangan in some way although if others contacted us we will consider all applicants - especially if they agree to come for a holiday to visit us!!
Although we are not 100% ready as yet...
But possible plans for the future we may well be looking for vocalists and musicians of all sorts for sampling and use in the studio in making our productions extra unique!
Whose tracks will you be releasing in the next few months?
We don't like to give too much away as these things can quickly change and we are still trying to find our feet! The website is will be www.moonislandrecords.com, we will keep you posted about that too...
So, Jourdan Bordes has the first release with 2 excellent tracks 'My Love for Brazil' and 'All of God's Children'. I especially like My Love for Brazil it has a great vibe to it...
