Let me introduce myself.

My name is Lee Persson, I’m a Swedish young woman at the age of 29.

I’ve been living on Koh Phangan on and off 3 times.

I started backpacking in 2009 and I ended my trip with a visit at Koh Phangan 2010 when I was doing Yoga

Of course I fell in love with the beautiful island and the only thing I wanted was to go back.
I returned in January 2013 and in October I decided that it was time for me to become a full time local in the Sri Thanu area.

I went home to Malmö, Sweden and I sold everything I had, took the little thing I had and moved to Koh Phangan for good.

Or so I thought....

Now I’m in the progress of moving from Thailand to Mexico.
Another big step in life.

Follow me on my journey trough something we call living the life to the fullest.

Isla Mujeres part 2.

I know it’s been a while before my update from Cuba.

It feels like a life time has passed since then. Somehow it has been very difficult for me to write when I’ve been in Mexico.

And for a month since I came back from Cuba, I haven’t been writing down a single word.

It’s been happening so much within a month that my head haven’t been able to suck up all information that has been going on.
I’m still trying to absorb it all. It was suppose to be 3 weeks but I ended up staying for 3 months.

It’s very different from Koh Phangan, for sure.

But it’s an island, so it’s still an island vibe but it’s smaller and people know you within a week.
And the difference is that on Koh Phangan you have a lot of privacy, living in the jungle while on Isla Mujeres, people will come and knock on your door.

The only thing I really missed in Mexico was the good music that Koh Phangan has to offer, the nature and the ”jungle feeling” and of course the healthy lifestyle.

When I was away, I have decided that it’s Mexico I want to live in. I asked myself what the hell I’m doing in Thailand when I was there.
But a part of me will never let go of Koh Phangan. Can I actually be able to live on 2 different paradise islands?

It’s a big step for me, again.

And it’s a lot of decisions to make, my head have been spinning non-stop for couple of days.
I started dating a local Mexican man who didn’t speak any English and I didn’t speak any Spanish when I was on Isla.

We met first time in August 2013, but we never talked.
I saw him again in january and we started seeing eachother before I left to Cuba.

That was also a reason for me to go back to Isla. It kind of just happend. In the beginning, the only way we communicated was through touch, emotions, feelings and body language. We had a really good time together, until we started (or tried) to communicate in language.

Heart disconnected and the brain fucked it up.

I think I went through both heaven and hell within a month. It was a very intensive thing for a very short time and it felt like a whole life time.

But I learned a lot and what doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger, right?

Everything is an experience and dating a latino is for sure something to learn from. It gave me some spiciness as well

I also decided pretty quickly that if I want to survive in a country like Mexico, I need to start speaking Spanish. NOW - PRONTO!

So, I’ve been taking Spanish classes since I came back to Mexico from Cuba. And since Spanish is a bit easier to learn than Thai, this is a better choice for me.

I met a local young woman Sandra, on Isla Mujeres who is making art on the island.

Small bowls made out of news paper. Recycled stuff. Me gusta mucho!! (I like a lot!!)

I made these .. wooohoo !!

She has so much work to do that she needs to hire someone to help her with her art. And who is the saviour? A little Mexican boy?
No, it’s a 29 year old Swedish blond girl hahaha. I’ve been doing couple of massages on the island and making some connections until I come back and live there again.
I’m looking forward to some business plans and ideas in the future with some people.

There is a lot of things that you can do on the island than just drinking margaritas!

Since I arrived on Isla Mujeres in January, I met up with a friend that I met on Koh Phangan a bit over a year ago.

Chazzy Patel, An American/English/Indian guy and one hell of a world traveler.

Full, full, full of stories to tell you and he barely stops talking. If someone have been doing stuff in his life, it’s this guy.
It’s very nice to see his face again on a different continent and since we barely had the time on Koh Phangan to meet up (because of the Teacher Training I was doing)

It’s nice to finally have some time to get to know each other. Someone else who also arrived on the island that me and Chazzy were hanging out with on Koh Phangan, was Greg. Greg have been on Koh Phangan at the same community (Agama) for a long time, for many years.

We had the same travel path (more or less) since 2009. We just missed eachother. And now we met in Mexico! I remember that we talked about Isla Mujeres when we were on Koh Phangan too. What are the odds? Also nice to catch up with this interesting guy and it looks like I’m going to stay with him when I go to California in the beginning of June! YAY!

Then there are John & Joey who were my neighbors in the marina on Isla Mujeres, on the catamaran Malucat. Joey grew up in Canada with my neighbor in Thailand. Brahm, from Brahm’s Drum Jam.

What are the odds on that one? WE ARE ALL CONNECTED!!!

Every time I’ve been visiting Isla Mujeres, I find these deep soul connections. Very intensive connections anyway. They pop up out of nowhere and some of them I still keep very close. Those people who really touches your heart. Those extra special ones. It’s scary, because there are many of them on the island.

Some of them you would NEVER expect that you ever would connect with, but you do.
Maybe some of them won’t stay for a long time, but I’ve met both men and women that I became best friends with in a matter of couple of hours. Maybe because I am more open and loving when I’m on the island too?
They all are very different, but at the same time they are all the same.

Just like me. I see myself in many of them.

Some of them just need to be guided and some of them are just there to guide you. It’s those people that you like to be around, feel connected to and just enjoy life, in this moment.
Creating memories and just be... In normal life I have a hard time to connect with people just like that.

 ♥  ♫ ♪  ✿  ♡ღ  ツ

But here, things work very differently.

The first time I was here in 2009, I met ”The Libra”. Who is still a good friend of mine.
We are still very connected but not in a romantic way. He is like a big brother and a good friend. He is one of those I can’t be around for too long, but I can’t be without him either. And one I miss a lot.

The second time I visited Isla, I met ”Mr Arizona”. Short, intense and a very special connection. It didn’t last after his Sweden visit but if was also intense.

The third time I came to the island I layed low, but I will mention ”Papi” anyway.

The Crew from my Third visit:

I normally never even look at the local guys because I know how they are with the girls. But we just had this energy when we looked at eachother.

I am actually amazed because it’s something that I never thought would happen. Ever.

And like I said, you learn from everything and everything happens for a reason.
I am very thankful for all the beautiful connections and everyone I’ve met along the way.
I made a lot of friends in Mexico during this trip and every single one of you, makes my trip all worth it in the end. Good or bad, I learn from it all.
