Street circus meets daytime beach party… in a Southeast Asian metropolis?
It was hard at times to remember where in the world I was, as deep grooves blended with surfing, dancing bears and inflatables at this kolourful celebration of culture and life.
Flow House was packed and decorated to the max, with eye candy ranging from sparkly top hats, facepaint and masked men on stilts to thick ribbons suspended across the open-air ceiling.
This eclectic soiree combined elements of the pre-Lent Carnaval with the newly patented culture of the “Bangkok beach party”; to which all due credit must be given to Kolour’s event organizers, Vina and Coran.
The vision of bringing the carefree island party to the heart of the city now manifests in Bangkok on set Sundays throughout high season. “I felt that there was something missing in Bangkok… I wanted to bring Thailand’s island-party to the city,” Vina mused, reflecting on the event’s history.
Kolour’s success in delivering its original vision was enhanced by perfect weather and Flow House’s immaculate facilities (and only slightly tainted by an unfriendly door manager).
